Serving the most vulnerable and victimized members of our community.
Milestone House
Founded in 1992 by current Executive Director Beverly Boone, Milestone House offers hope to foster children through a variety of programs and services. Foster children struggle to heal from the damage left by the child abuse and neglect they have suffered. Many have serious emotional, psychological and behavioral problems. In our residential treatment program for teen girls, we work to help our girls overcome these difficulties. At Milestone House we also specialize in working with Native American foster youth. We respect the Native American culture and traditions and work to ensure those traditions are an important part of our work with Native American foster children and youth. We host a weekly healing circle for all Native American foster children in San Diego County.
The Milestone House Resale Boutique
The Milestone House Resale Boutique supports our programs that help foster children and youth to lead happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. Foster children are survivors of the crime of child abuse. We believe that foster children have resilient spirits and with the right help can overcome their past trauma and move toward a bright future. By purchasing one of our curated outfits, you can help a foster child or youth reach his or her goal
Fostering Adulthood
Our Fostering Adulthood program was created to address the needs of foster youth who have aged-out of the system and are having a difficult time making the transition to adulthood. Foster children often face this tough time with little or no support from caring adult role models in their lives. Fostering Adulthood.offers services and resources that are vital to former foster youth in their pursuit of a happy and productive life.
The Jobs Network
The Fostering Adulthood Jobs Network is a social enterprise that aims to create small business operations that will create jobs for former foster youth. Now in its first phase, the program offers training, practicum and mentorship. This resale operation is staffed by former foster youth who are part of our Jobs Network program, where each participant is also paired with a volunteer mentor who becomes a trusted adult in their lives they can turn to for guidance and advice.
Fostering Music
Did you know that foster children are the least likely of all children to learn a musical instrument? Fostering Music was born to address this need by providing musical instruments and music lessons, allowing foster children to enjoy the many benefits of learning a musical instrument like enhanced social skills, improved math skills and even increased I.Q. Because all too frequent movement is a major impediment to foster children learning an instrument, our program is designed to make sure that these resources follow the child to new placements so that his or her learning is not interrupted.
